Weddings Advice

Jazz band hire for weddingsOur band has played at so many weddings that we feel qualified to give you advice on weddings!

Firstly – marry someone you love. Someone who listens to you and to whom you can listen too.

Marry someone you still fancy even when you are irritated by them.

OK – that's the slushy stuff out of the way – the rest of the weddings advice is more practical stuff!

The best weddings advice I can give is once all the planning, organising etc has been done – put all that behind you for the day itself and enjoy.

That said, there is a trend in the way weddings are done. People are increasingly choosing to personalize their weddings in all sorts of ways. Weddings are increasingly being seen as an opportunity to be creative and expressive and individual.

Traditional weddings are fantastic, but individualised, personalised weddings can be great fun, a pleasant surprise and particularly meaningful.

There are more and more things on offer these days – from releasing white doves to ‘how we met and fell in love' cartoon story boards. As well as the internet, check out a few wedding magazines – ‘County Brides' is great – and visit a few wedding fayres.

Quite often people getting married for the first time feel bound by convention. You don't have to be. You have a choice and you can put more of yourself into it if you want, and do it your way. Often people getting married for the second time find it easier to break with convention and do it their way.

So what bearing does this approach have on the who you employ to make this special day happen?

Find suppliers that are co-operative and flexible; people who will listen to you and are open to your ideas. People who will offer you options and advice. People who are easy to chat with and who you are comfortable phoning up discuss an issue that's just come up.

It's possible that some wedding professionals doing weddings week in and week out get stuck into a bit of a routine. That routine may need to change a little for you.

For instance, don't let the banqueting manager crowbar you into doing something because it's more convenient for his/her normal routine. It's your wedding! (Having said that many are really great and flexible!)

You may wish to have your ceremony outdoors, or have a swing band in church instead of an organ. You might want to skip down the aisle to an unusual piece of music, or a song with hints of humour, instead of the traditional wedding march.
