Jazz band hire
OK – so you’re thinking of a hiring a jazz band – great idea!
Do you want to hire a jazz
band for dancing? Or maybe a cool dinner jazz thing for a
drinks reception? Or perhaps you want the jazz band you hire to create
a lovely atmosphere over dinner.
If you're a jazz band virgin,
I’d recommend looking at your prospective jazz band's repertoire
list, listening to their samples, and reading their testimonials to see
if it’s the kind of jazz you have in mind.
When talking to the jazz band you
plan to hire, name a few artists you like or songs you like from the
jazz era you’re thinking of. If you don't know which era it is,
don't worry - just name some songs and the band will know! (Or at
least, they should do!)
Another thing to think about when
hiring a jazz band: will your chosen jazz band play a good
variety of jazz rhythms and styles?
Playing for 2 hours is quite a
long time and the band needs to engage and entertain your guests. Will
there be a good mix of tunes, both familiar and irresistible? You can
always check this with past clients.
When hiring a jazz band, you don't need to get into too much detail
about what they will play – as long as you feel they'll play what
people want to hear. See how they respond to you when you talk to them
– if you feel a rapport, it's a good indication they'll have a rapport
with your guests too.
There are lots of great jazz
musicians around – find a band that performs , entertains,
draws people into the fun and joy of the evening and makes the party
happen!
